滋賀県信楽町から山を上がると
多羅尾という村があります。
さらに山道を行った先に
私たちは暮らしています。
始まりは、
登り窯の残る古い作業場。
家族が増え、
隣の竹林を拓き
小さな家を建てました。
福岡生まれ・街育ちの私には
この暮らしが
不便で、快適です。
絵本や文学が語っていた森の世界を
目と鼻と肌で感じました。
誰もが知っている
微かな
温かな
繊細な感覚や動作を
留めたくて
考え、作り、描いています。
懐かしい手紙のように
あなたの手元に残りますように。
Shigaraki in Shiga Prefecture is followed by a road that climbs into the mountains.
There is a village there called Tarao.
Beyond it, further up the mountain, is where we live.
It began with an old workshop deep in the hills,
once home to a climbing kiln.
When our family grew,
we cleared the neighboring bamboo grove
and built a small house.
Born in Fukuoka and raised in the city,
I find this life in nature
both inconvenient
and deeply comfortable.
Here, I came to know with my eyes, nose, and skin
the forest world I had encountered
in the picture books and literature I have long read.
I hope to hold on to
those faint, warm, delicate sensations and gestures
that everyone quietly recognizes.
I think, I make, and I draw
with that in mind.
